I attempted to impeach Ekweremadu in 7th Senate- Ali Ndume

The Senate Leader, Ali Ndume revealed that he was the only one in the 7th Assembly who moved to impeach the deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu.

This statement was made when he raised a point of order 18 against a publication by The Nation Newspaper titled “Motion:22 APC senators working against Buhari” at the senate on Thursday.

The order 18 read that a senator complaining to the senate of a statement in a newspaper, book or any publication as breach or privilege must produce a copy of the newspaper book or other publications containing the statement in question and shall be prepared to give the name of the printer or the publishers.

“Let me say for the record purpose for those that were not her ein the seventh senate, it is not a thing of pride that i stand here to say that i was the only person in the 7th assembly that attempted to impeach Ekweremadu.

“I collected signatures in order to impeach him because of certain things which i explained and discussed.

“The leadership issue in APC is part of the senate leadership and the two postitions there are specifically the senate president and the deputy.

“Each and everyone here as a senator is qualified to ba a senate president by all standard but its unfortunate that out of the 109 of us, one has to be the SP and the other DSP.

“It so happened that the senate president in the name of Bukola Saraki by Gods grace happened to be the senate president”, he said.

He added that he still wants to be the senate president if he could but only one person has to be in that position.

“I personally still want to be the senate president and i believe that any of us will not mind to be the SP.

“As for the deputy senate president, i contested against him to win and not to lose that election but is God who gives power to whoever he wants at anytime”, Mr Ndume concluded.

In conclusion, he said the lawmakers should halt the drama over the NASS leadership to degenerate the status of the lawmakers.

Meanwhile, while Mr Ndume was speaking, the wife of former Lagos state governor, Remi Tinubu frequently interrupted him in an angry manner.

Mr Saraki refered it to the Committee on Ethics and Privileges to report back in a week.
