The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has advised drivers to obtain genuine driver’s license as drivers who commit accidents that lead to loss of lives will be charged with murder.
Mr David Mendie who is the sector commander of the Enugu state chapter of the corps warned that any driver apprehended without a genuine license will face the appropriate punishment.
Leadership reports that the sector commander gave the warning when he received executives of Association of Tricycle Riders of Nigeria, Enugu state chapter
He said that there were many fake licences and drivers should be wary of this as ignorance would not be considered a reason for committing the offence.
“Obtaining a driver’s licence through the back door is not allowed; we want zero tolerance on road traffic crashes; if you want to obtain a licence, you must go to a driving school,” he stated.
In a related development, Mr Yusuf Salami, the sector commander of the Oyo state chapter of the FRSC revealed that it recorded 107 deaths in 137 road accidents in its Oyo state command during the first four months of 2015.
He also said that about 688 persons also sustained varying degrees of injuries during the same period.

In spite of the figures however, the commander announced that this was a 26.7 per cent reduction compared to last year’s figures.
“With the statistics, the road crashes increased in the state, but the number of deaths reduced and this can be attributed to many factors from the vehicles to the drivers.”
Meanwhile, about 7 people were confirmed dead in a ghastly motor accident involving a truck and a transport bus belonging to Calculux Company.
